CityLink Celebrates Get on Board Day
Back on April 25, 2019, CityLink celebrated the inaugural Get on Board Day. Sponsored by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), the 2019 National Get on Board Day was celebrated nationally and encouraged people to support public transportation and allowed agencies to showcase the many benefits it brings to communities.
CityLink chose to celebrate this day by hosting a press conference/rally at the Downtown Peoria Transit Center. Those who spoke included: CityLink General Manager Doug Roelfs, CityLink Board Chair Art Bell, Peoria City Councilwoman Denise Moore, Peoria City Councilwoman Beth Jensen, State Senator Dave Koehler and GP Economic Development Council CEO Chris Setti.
During the event, CityLink introduced Councilwoman Beth Jensen as the new public transportation liaison from the Peoria City Council.
CityLink also joined forces with transit agencies statewide for the hashtag campaign #GetOnBoardIL and encouraged residents of the Greater Peoria Area to email or Tweet their support to local elected officials for the State Capital Bill, which was officially signed by Gov. J.B. Pritzker earlier this month.
Photos from that day can be viewed on the official CityLink Facebook page. See an overview of CityLink’s Get on Board Day celebration below.
