CityLink and PCCEO Head Start Partner for New Childcare Center

CityLink and PCCEO Head Start are pleased to announce the upcoming opening of a new childcare center located next to the CityLink Transit Center at 415 SW Adams Street. The childcare center entrance is located on the south end of the Adams Street side of the building, and it will officially open for children aged from birth to five years on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 (delayed by a day due to the frigid temperatures on January 16).

This childcare center will help fill a void for high-quality childcare in the Downtown Peoria area, while also providing parents and caregivers with easy access to the CityLink fixed route bus system.”

Head Start offers quality education for children aged from birth to five years, with over 40 years of experience in early childhood development. The program’s goal is to enhance the development of the whole child and to provide learning experiences that will promote school readiness. The program also provides parent-family and community engagement, transportation for children in the program, a parent policy council and health and disability services. Head Start currently serves over 330 children and has six locations for families to choose from, with the new childcare center located next to the CityLink Transit Center becoming the seventh location. A rescheduled date for a ribbon cutting to celebrate this partnership between CityLink and PCCEO Head Start and the opening of the new childcare center is planned for Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. The Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting the ribbon cutting ceremony at the childcare center, which will be followed with brief remarks by CityLink and PCCEO Head Start and light refreshments.
