Jeff Hoerr and Patti Sterling Polk Appointed to the GPMTD Board of Trustees

Jeff Hoerr and Patti Sterling Polk attended their first board meeting on Monday, July 12, 2021, since both being appointed to the Greater Peoria Mass Transit District (GPMTD) Board of Trustees at the June 22, 2021 Peoria City Council meeting. Hoerr and Polk are representing the City of Peoria and they were appointed by Mayor Rita Ali. During their first GPMTD Board of Trustees meeting, current GPMTD Board Chair Dr. Maxine Wortham appointed Hoerr to serve as Treasurer, and Polk to serve as the Chair of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Committee.

Hoerr is one of the co-owners of Hoerr Nursery, which is a family owned and operated business that was started by his grandfather in 1926. He has been with the nursery since graduating from the University of Illinois with a degree in Landscape Architecture, and he has been one of the co-owners of the business for 21 years. Hoerr also serves as the Head of Landscape Design for the nursery. In addition, he is an active volunteer of the South Side Christian Academy and with his church.

Patti Sterling Polk

Hoerr, a lifelong resident of Peoria, lives in Peoria with his wife Jada. He has four adult children.

Polk is a retired AT&T executive, and she is currently volunteering with the Illinois Public Health Association as a Community Health Worker to help those dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic gain access to resources. Her other work experience includes time spent at the State of Illinois Regional Office of Education, Methodist Medical Center College of Nursing and Harbor Light Hospice. She is also the national immediate past president of Church Women United and is the Vice President for the Illinois chapter. In addition, Polk is an active volunteer for service organizations in the local community and beyond.

Polk is a long-time resident of Peoria, and she is the widow of former GPMTD Board Trustee James Polk, who served on the board for more than 12 years. She has two adult children and two granddaughters.

Both Trustee Hoerr and Trustee Polk’s terms are effective May 1, 2021 to May 1, 2025.
