GPMTD Suspending Fare Collection on All Transportation Services Mar. 17 Until Further Notice
The Greater Peoria Mass Transit District (GPMTD) is suspending fare collection on all transportation services beginning on March 17, 2020 until further notice. This includes CityLink fixed route bus service, CityLift paratransit service and CountyLink rural transportation service.
“We are suspending fare collection across all of the services the Greater Peoria Mass Transit District provides as a precautionary measure to eliminate the physical contact required between the operator and passenger,” said CityLink General Manager Doug Roelfs. “This is in addition to the other precautionary measures we are already undertaking to sanitize and deep clean all vehicles and facilities with EPA approved products recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Peoria City/County Health Department,” continued Roelfs.
Passengers are encouraged to keep any passes that are already activated, and announcements will be made from GPMTD once the suspension on fare collection is lifted.
All Customer Service window transactions have also been suspended at the CityLink Transit Center (407 SW Adams St.) and Administrative office (2105 NE Jefferson Ave.) beginning on March 17, 2020 until further notice. Customer Service staff will be available to assist passengers via phone at 309-676-4040 during this time.
Additionally, obtainment of Benefit Access/Half-fare/Paratransit Rider IDs has been suspended beginning on March 17, 2020 until further notice and the office will be closed to the public beginning on March 17, 2020 until further notice.
