CityLink to Host Press Conference/Rally on 4/25
CityLink is joining with public transportation systems nationwide to participate in National Get on Board Day on Thursday, April 25 by hosting a press conference/rally. Those planned to be in attendance and making remarks include CityLink General Manager Doug Roelfs, CityLink Board Chair Art Bell, Peoria City Councilman Eric Turner, Peoria City Councilwoman Beth Jensen, State Senator Dave Koehler and GP Economic Development Council CEO Chris Setti.
Sponsored by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), the 2019 National Get on Board Day is a day that encourages people to support public transportation and showcases the benefits it brings to communities. Each weekday in the U.S., 34 million people board public transportation.
Additionally, public transportation is a cornerstone of local economies in urban, suburban, and rural communities. In fact, public transportation helps to make a community economically prosperous and competitive. Every $1 invested in public transportation generates approximately $4 in economic returns, powering community growth and revitalization.
CityLink is also joining forces with transit agencies statewide for the hashtag campaign #GetOnBoardIL and encouraging residents of the Greater Peoria Area to email or Tweet their support at GetOnBoardIL.org to local elected officials on, before or after April 25, 2019.
