CityLink Reducing Fixed Route Bus Service Effective Mar. 19, 2020 & Transit Center Lobby Closed to Public

CityLink is reducing fixed route bus service on all routes effective March 19, 2020.  Weekday and Saturday service will remain the same for lineups departing the Transit Center; however, the last lineup to leave the Transit Center will now depart at 8:45 p.m. on all routes that would normally have service later than the 8:45 p.m. lineup.  Sunday service remains as scheduled.  The Transit Center lobby (407 SW Adams) will be closed to the public after the 5:15 p.m. lineup effective March 18, 2020 until further notice.

“We are continuing to monitor the COVOID-19/coronavirus health crisis.  After evaluating our ridership, the needs we have, in terms of operators and vehicles, to continue providing core bus service, and adhering to the the advice provided by the CDC and local health departments, we have decided to reduce service for our fixed route bus schedule,” said CityLink General Manager Doug Roelfs.  “We are going to make every effort to continue accommodating our passengers that rely on the service by providing regular service through the 8:45 p.m. lineup,” continued Roelfs.

The decision to reduce service comes after the announcement earlier this week that GPMTD was suspending fare collection on all transportation services and Customer Service window transactions effective March 17, 2020.  This includes fare collection on CityLink fixed route bus service, CityLift paratransit service and CountyLink rural transportation service.  The anticipated date on which passengers will be required to pay a fare is still April 1, 2020.  Obtainment of Benefit Access/Half-fare/Paratransit Rider IDs has been suspended effective March 17, 2020 until April 1, 2020, and the office will be closed to the public until April 1, 2020.  Customer Service staff is currently available to assist passengers at 309-676-4040 during designated business hours.

CityLink continues to sanitize and deep clean all vehicles and facilities with EPA approved products recommended by the CDC daily.
