During the past few months, CityLink has held several public hearings regarding bus service. In November two hearings were held in Bartonville regarding the continuation of service to that community.

Stuff-a-Bus officially wrapped up on Monday, December 2 with a press conference at Peoria Friendship House of Christian Service to announce the total weight of the bus filled with the food collected during the campaign.
The total weight of the food collected on the bus at the conclusion of the campaign was 15,240 pounds or 7.62 tons. In addition, approximately 3200 pounds, or 1.6 tons of food was donated directly to the Peoria Friendship House of Christian Service for a total collection weight of 9.22 tons. As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, we pause to be especially thankful this year. Thankful that we have a National Weather Service that provided warnings that saved lives. Thankful that the loss of life was not greater. Thankful for communities that pull together in times of loss. Thankful for neighbors who put their own tragedies aside to help neighbors. Thankful for churches that provided physical and spiritual shelter.

It's a couple weeks into the 2013 Stuff-a-Bus food drive to benefit Peoria Friendship House of Christian Service, and a lot has been happening! There were three events just this past week. On Wednesday, Nov. 6, passengers rode free in exchange for a non-perishable food donation.
On Saturday, Nov. 9, CityLink hosted a "Can Build" in which students in the afterschool program at the Peoria Friendship House of Christian Service and other volunteers built a replica of a house out of canned food donated by Kroger at the CityLink Transit Center. ...Read more
The first Fall Festival Kickoff for Stuff-a-Bus was a success. Several people came out to enjoy the festivities at the Kroger on Lindbergh Drive on October 26. There was pumpkin decorating, a bouncy house, a balloon artist, and storytelling. NASH FM also brocast live for two hours during the event.

The reality of hunger in Illinois was the focus of this year’s luncheon to kick off the annual Stuff-A-Bus food drive to benefit the Peoria Friendship House of Christian Service. Cristal Thomas, deputy governor in the Office of Governor Pat Quinn and co-chair of the Illinois Commission to End Hunger, was guest speaker at the luncheon. According to the Commission, 1.8 million Illinoisans do not know when or where their next meal might come from, and close to 745,000 of those are children.

In a continuing effort to be green, CityLink will begin charging $1.00 for the Rider's Guides. This is effective November 1, 2013.
For the first two weeks of the new Rider's Guide distribution, guides will be free. After two weeks, the rider's guides will only be available at the Transit Center and Administrative offices at the cost of $1.00 each.
Please help CityLink cut down on waste by keeping your copy of the Rider’s Guide and not throwing it away.

CityLink recently hosted the 2013 IPTA (Illinois Public Transportation Association) Fall Conference at the newly reopened Marriott Pere Marquette. The conference was held September 4-6 and was attended by transit districts throughout the state of Illinois. Former Secretary of the US Department of Transportation Ray LaHood was featured as the keynote speaker. State of Illinois Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka was in attendance, along with State Senators Darrin LaHood and Dave Koehler, and State Representative Al Riley.

The American Lung Association recently featured CityLink in a video promoting the environmentally-friendly advantages of using B-20 biodiesel fuel in its fleet. The video features CityLink Assistant General Manager of Maintenance John Anderson.
Several CityLink employees, management staff, and Board of Trustees members participated in the unveiling of a custom bus wrap to honor Peoria’s selection as an All-America City. The event was held Friday, August 30, 2013 at the Riverfront Clock Tower in Peoria. The bus wrap features a panoramic image of downtown Peoria on the driver’s side, and images of Elite Pulses of Hope Drumline on the curbside. It will remain on the bus for one year.
