Art Bell Named Chair of the Greater Peoria Mass Transit District Board of Trustees

Members of the Greater Peoria Mass Transit District (GPMTD) Board of Trustees selected Art Bell as the new Board Chair at the May 14, 2018 Board Meeting.  Bell was named to the GPMTD Board in 2005 by current City of Peoria Mayor Jim Ardis.  This is Bell’s first term as Board Chair.  He previously served as Treasurer for three terms.
Bell succeeds Dr. Maxine Wortham, who most recently served two consecutive terms as Board Chair.
GPMTD also made the following appointment of officers:
  • Jennifer Lee, Vice Chair (Appointed February 14, 2017)
  • Maxine Wortham, Treasurer (Appointed February 7, 2006)
  • Sharon McBride, Secretary (Appointed May 5, 1997)
  • Joan Krupa, Trustee (Appointed February 3, 2015)
The GPMTD has provided affordable public transportation to the citizens of the Greater Peoria area since 1970.  With a strong fixed route fleet of 53 buses, passengers can depend on CityLink to get them where they need to go.  The GPMTD also provides demand response (paratransit) service throughout its service area known as CityLift.  In addition, through an intergovernmental agreement with Peoria County, the GPMTD operates and maintains the rural transit service known as CountyLink.
