CityLink Bus Passes Offer Affordable Transportation Options for Local College Students - Fall 2018

Back-To-School time has arrived and Peoria area colleges and universities will begin the fall semester in a matter of weeks.  Most college students are trying to find ways to save money, and using CityLink is one of the best ways students can go green while saving some green.

CityLink 4th of July Hours of Operation 2018

In honor of the Independence Day holiday, CityLink will not offer service on Wednesday, July 4.  On July 3, the last line-up will depart from the Transit Center at 8:45 p.m.  All buses will return to the garage after reaching the end of the outbound route.  The CityLink Administrative offices and Transit Center lobby will be closed on July 4. Regular bus service resumes and the Transit Center lobby and CityLink Administrative offices will re-open on July 5.

CityLink to Celebrate 13th Annual Dump the Pump Day on June 15

CityLink will participate in the 13th Annual Dump the Pump Day on Friday, June 15.  This is a national event recognized by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), and it is celebrated by transit agencies across the United States.  According to the APTA June Transit Savings Report, the average annual savings is $10,160 for a person who switches his or her daily commute from driving to taking public transportation.  This is the highest transit savings recorded this year.  Individuals who ride public transportation instead of driving can save, on average, more than $847 per...

CityLink Memorial Day Hours of Operations 2018

In observance of the Memorial Day holiday, CityLink will not provide service on Monday, May 28, 2018.
 
The CityLink Transit Center, located at 407 SW Adams, and the Administrative offices, located at 2105 NE Jefferson, will also be closed for the holiday.  On Sunday, May 27, the Transit Center lobby will be open from 8:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. and the customer service windows will be open from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
 
Full service resumes on Tuesday, May 29, 2018.

Art Bell Named Chair of the Greater Peoria Mass Transit District Board of Trustees

Members of the Greater Peoria Mass Transit District (GPMTD) Board of Trustees selected Art Bell as the new Board Chair at the May 14, 2018 Board Meeting.  Bell was named to the GPMTD Board in 2005 by current City of Peoria Mayor Jim Ardis.  This is Bell’s first term as Board Chair.  He previously served as Treasurer for three terms.

CityLink to Celebrate Bike to Work Week by Offering Free Rides to Passengers Traveling with a Bicycle May 14-May 18

CityLink is offering free rides to passengers traveling with a bicycle on fixed route buses during Bike to Work Week starting on May 14, 2018 through May 18, 2018.  May is National Bike Month, and the week of May 14-18 is dedicated to the promotion of biking to work instead of driving. This free ride offer during Bike to Work Week is in conjunction with CityLink’s continued support of the local non-profit bicycle advocacy organization, Bike Peoria.  CityLink and Bike Peoria are allies in promoting alternative and multimodal transportation options in the Peoria area.

CityLink to Provide Free Shuttle Service for 2018 Race for the Cure Participants

 
CityLink is making transportation convenient for participants of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on Saturday, May 12, 2018 by providing a free shuttle.  Participants of the event should arrive early for the shuttle at either the Northwoods Mall (JC Penney entrance on the Sterling side), or Evergreen Square (Lake Street side).  The shuttles begin transporting passengers to the Race for the Cure at 6:15 a.m. and will continue until 7:15 a.m.  Buses will return passengers back to the the Northwoods Mall and Evergreen Square immediately following the event once the streets...

CityLink to Celebrate 10th Annual Jerome Lilly Passenger Appreciation Day on Apr. 20

On Friday, April 20, 2018, CityLink will celebrate its 10th Annual Passenger Appreciation Day to honor Jerome Lilly by providing free rides to passengers all day on all fixed routes.  Lilly, a beloved General Manager of CityLink, passed away unexpectedly in 2007.  April 20 the following year was chosen as the date for Passenger Appreciation Day because it was Lilly’s birthday.

CityLink Receives $3.6 Million Grant from FTA for New Maintenance & Operations Facility

CityLink received a $3.6 million grant from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), a division of the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), for the construction of a new bus maintenance and operations facility.  $264 million in grants were announced on April 5, 2018, and CityLink was one of 139 projects selected nationwide that will be funded by the FTA’s Buses and Bus Facilities Infrastructure Investment Program.

CityLink Partners with the Peoria Chiefs to Offer Discount on Chiefs Tickets During 2018 Season

CityLink is once again partnering with the Peoria Chiefs to offer a discount for tickets to select Chiefs home games during the 2018 season.  Fans can receive up to four tickets for $5 each when they present a CityLink bus pass at the Dozer Park box office for Sunday, Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday home games all season long beginning on Saturday, April 7, 2018.  The limit is four tickets per game and only one bus pass is required to purchase the tickets at the discounted rate.
